Black and white and red all over

Invariably the first question, a coaches wife asks when the coach tells them they are moving to a new school is: “What are their school colors?” There’s nothing worse than being saddled with a school color that just doesn’t work for you. When we went to black and yellow, that’s where I drew the line and stopped trying to blend in with the home crowd. From that point on, I just wore whatever I wanted. Sure, I get chastised a bunch but a woman’s gotta do what a woman’s gotta do. So, as some of us get used to new school colors, or a change to the crisp Friday nights, I thought this article from the Dallas Morning News could give some inspiration on how to update your fall wardrobe. Looking good doesn’t mean spending hundreds of dollars. I constantly scour Goodwill and thrift stores. If it doesn’t work, I’m not out much money. Plus, to me, the hunt is almost as exciting as the find.

    Hello!

One of my friends found your site through Carolyn's book site and sent me over to check out your blog. We are also coaches wives and it is good to read from the perspective of another wife living the life.

I laughed at this post, because I am always telling people that I have an umbrella, jacket, and solid Tee in just about every color under the sun. I don't often write about the ups and downs of the coaching life, but after reading your blog I feel inspired to share a glimpse.

Blessings to you and your coach!

    Hi Monica:
I always enjoy hearing from other coaches wives. I "did" have one yellow outfit, but after wearing it to a basketball game, one of my best friends who is painfully honest with me because she loves me (she will tell me in the dressing room if jeans make me look fat) told me it wasn't working for me. I cheer much better when I wear colors that are good for me instead of those who are good for the team.
Hope your well-dressed coach brings home a win this week.
